Atypical guest table centerpieces

I look at a lot of weddings, and I’ve decorated a lot of them. Sometimes, I wonder if anyone else breaks from the norm of lush flower bouquets and puts something a little different on their guest tables. Here are a few I found on Flickr to inspire you.

This wedding reception centerpiece happened to be created by none other than a bride herself — she happens to be Australian, so I couldn’t tell you the exact amount these cost, but if you click on the link, she describes where she got the materials (like the faux flowers) and how she put them together.

Tall glass cylinder vases aren’t so new, but the trend of filling them with water and having flowers or a greenery like ivy floating inside is. I also love that there’s a floating candle on top of this one.

I am a big fan of simple centerpieces, like this. Brightly colored daisies, one inside each glass cube? Totally nice and simple.

This greenery fascinates me endlessly. These are called Bells of Ireland, and I always thought they looked like suction cups. They actually smell pretty nice and they’re so different looking they make a big visual impact. I love the idea of curving them inside a bowl with a brightly-colored rose, like these orange roses.

Branches are a big thing now for decorating. It looks like this centerpiece is made up of several sections of branches wired or glued together. The florist wired white dendrobium orchids on some of the outer branches, and they also hung three votive candles from it. Personally, I wouldn’t have hung the votive candles from the tree centerpiece, seeing as how those can be heavy and dried branches can be brittle and easily broken. But still — looks kinda cool, eh?
