Baby shower decoration ideas

If you want ideas for how to decorate a baby shower, you should not look to my recently passed baby shower for my second son. I’m not knocking my husband, who planned the event, but it was the bare minimum of baby showers. The shower was held at Dave & Busters, since I wanted it to be a co-ed event. My brother brought blue and brown balloons, the colors we had decided on. When you have a party at Dave & Busters, they take care of the food setup, plates, napkins and tablecloths, so all that is taken care of. But there were no favors and hardly any of the traditional shower games. (But at least I had a baby shower this time — my first son was early, so I didn’t have a shower at all.)

Thank God the cake, at the very least, was adorable.

This beautiful cake was baked and decorated by my friend Kathleen of The Bombshell Bakery. Didn’t I say she was awesome?

Instead, you should look to my friend Hanah’s baby shower. I’m guessing one of her girlfriends planned this baby shower, with a Twilight theme, because it was pretty awesome.

Hanah is apparently a huge Twilight fan, and it so happens that she named her baby Jacob, so it all fit. But I love the creativity they used to decorate the shower.

Photocopies were made of the original Twilight poster, the one with the hands holding the apple, and they superimposed the text “Hanah’s twilight shower” at the top. But they made the decorations really pop by placing a fresh apple in the hands in the poster. These were set on top each plate setting.

Blue paper flowers with a moon and a star hanging from streamers topped each of the chairs.

I am not sure where this was placed, but check it out — Team Jacob vs. Team Edward? Nice. Hanah also wore a T-shirt that declared she was on “Team Jacob — because Edward bites!” Heheh.

See, this is the difference between a party thrown by men and a party thrown by women — women remember the little details. The party favor was a golden star ornament. To be honest, the timing was perfect — I think this party was in the latter part of November.

And the cake continued the moon and stars Twilight theme.

  1. Thanks Darlene.
It was a pretty awesome baby shower. Shout out to my sister, Saenah and my friends, MJ and Mei, for planning a great party.
It took place at a restaurant in Hoboken, NJ. And the cake was courtesy of the Cake Boss of TLC.
