Decorating rectangular guest tables

I’ve never had the pleasure of decorating straight guest tables — only round ones. And it wouldn’t be the same as decorating a head table — you can’t drape a guest table, and you can’t use large, display-like arrangements along one side of a straight guest table because both sides of the table need room for seating.

Decorations for straight guest tables usually include rose petals, candles and vases of flowers placed at intervals along the table. This wedding happened right around Halloween, hence the pumpkin giveaways. There are a few more things you can do to punch up a long table though…

Napkins aren’t generally within the scope of a florist or decorator’s purview, but the bride and groom can ask for something other than white. They can also ask for a napkin fold that’s not simply flat, like above. And….I love those chairs. They’re so bright!

Now, this table….this is what you were looking for, right? Satin table cloth, burgundy table runner along the center, emerald napkins, bright gerber daisies and mums in square vases and medium sized candles. Decorating a long, rectangular guest table is not easy, but it can be with just a few, bright choices.
