Fancy tall flower arrangements

Tall flower arrangements for guest tables are decadent, almost a luxury for most weddings. Remember, these are usually given away to a guest at each table, so if you’re giving away the entire arrangement, vase and all, that very well can be a $55 to $75 arrangement you’re giving away.

But if you’ve got the budget, how can you resist? Check out these rose arrangements on top of a trumpet vase. Talk about classy! The vases are filled with water and a sprig of ivy, and the rose arrangements have some bear grass in and out of the roses. The simplest arrangements are always so gorgeous.

Here’s another tall arrangement where some of its heft is taken up by fruit! The fat trumpet vase would look awfully plain if those lemons and limes weren’t hin there. The arrangement on top consists of yellow and white roses, white lilies with a yellow tinge, big sprigs of lemon leaf and other greens.

This photo was actually taken by an old high school friend of mine, Hoang. Heheh, most tall vase arrangements have just one sprig of flowers in the vase, but this one has two sprigs of Hawaiian orchids, on top of those clear pebbles. I can see the top is also wrapped with greens, which makes me suspect that the vase and the arrangement were not attached, so that guests could take the arrangements and leave the vases. That’s one way to get the look and not spend too much on the giveaway.

Here’s another photo from Hoang, from another wedding. (She goes to some fancy weddings!) I don’t think this trumpet vase has water in it, but it does have the black pebbles and the sprig of orchids inside it. Heheh, I love the colors of it — I’m partial to purple — and I like its trailing quality….the bear grass kind of just hanging off it. If there was a breeze, I’m sure the grass would be floating to and fro. And, if you click the photo, you’ll see the table is overlaid with organza, which is a nice detail.

  1. These are beautiful!! Can you email me with the number of roses you have in each tall vase? I’m using this design at my wedding and would like to do it right. Thanks.

    • Hi Diane — there is no formula to the number of roses you should use in each tall vase. Usually an odd number is good — 3 or 5. That way you can have one rose in the center, with the others surrounding it.

  6. I have about 11 trumpet vases. I would like to do something similar to the roses at the top, but how did you fit your oasis in the top. Is it in a bowl or just sitting in the top of the vase. I’ve been looking for the bowls that fit these vases and I’m having no luck. They are 18″ and 7″ diameter at the top of vase.

  7. Hi, I have a tall flared glass vase that I am using for my daughter wedding. What do I use to get the flowers on top of the vase without seeing the stems in the lower part of the vase. I was thinking about using a white orchid arrangement. Don’t have much money, want to do it myself. Thanks

  8. No! No! No! Your flowers are beautiful but! if your having a rose in the middle then you should have 4 or 6 that way your design isnt squared and your eye travels around the design!

  9. Hi,
I was just wondering how do you put the roses on in the top photo without showing the stems? And also I have been trying to look everywhere for those vases and I can not find them. Where could I find them? and how tall was that vase? that’s how talli want my vases, so then people can still talk.
    Thanks
