Plan a Costco wedding

I can think of one person who might truly consider a all Costco-planned wedding, if he was marrying a woman who would be amenable to the idea. He loved him some Costco — would even drive 20 minutes out of his way in order to get a Costco pizza.

I’ve previously extolled the virtues of Costco’s wedding-centric possibilities — like bridal flowers and vases and candles — but they’ve really stepped up their game by adding wedding dresses and one-of-a-kind engagement rings. (And really, we’ve heard of wackier wedding stunts, right? Like the 99-cent Stores wedding?)

First, let’s address the jewelry. I’m sure we were all aware that Costco sold jewelry, yes? But did you know they could look like this, which, by the way, is a princess cut diamond wedding set? I’m not even that much into jewelry, and even I think this would look mighty fine on my left ring finger. I am, by the way, hoping for an upgrade, maybe once I pop this second baby out or maybe around our 10th anniversary, which is really not that far off. Start saving, honey!

Now, I don’t know if whether any Costco stores actually carry any of the rings in their one-of-a-kind section online. But when you give it a glance, the selection is seriously impressive. And not to worry, you don’t have to buy jewelry in bulk, hardy har har har. I couldn’t resist the typical Costco joke, sorry.

This diamond ring is Costco’s crown jewel, so to speak. This is a 4.71-carat, platinum ring, with all sorts of IGI and GIA certification to go with it. There’s only one available, but considering not many can afford a $226,999.99 diamond ring, I think that the thin supply of this ring is OK.

Then, there’s the wedding dresses. Costco launched a sort of roaming pop-up wedding gown salon at its warehouse stores, to great fanfare. The media loved the idea of buying wedding gowns at Costco (you don’t have to buy these in bulk either, hardy har har). But do brides love the idea? I’ve yet to hear of a Costco-bought wedding dress actually making it down the aisle. But its not like they’re not nice.

I’d say these styles rival anything I’ve seen bargain-hunting brides snap up at the annual Filene’s Running of the Brides event…without the running, jostling and fighting.

So, Costco’s got wedding and bridal flowers, bridal gowns, diamond rings and wedding bands, vases and candles, cameras, video cameras and photo processing for wedding pictures and video, vacation packages for the honeymoon, life insurance (which you should have for any big life change), plenty of home staples (think towels, photo frames, cookware and small appliances) for gifts, and of course, plenty of food and alcohol. Maybe the only thing they don’t have that most weddings would need would be bridesmaid dresses, tux and limo rentals. But then again, I wouldn’t put it past Costco to do such a thing later.

Oh, and how about a wedding registry, Costco? That would help!
