Real or fake? A rose ball for your aisle

My undercover wedding attender recently sent me these photos from a wedding at the Aliso Viejo Conference Center, and I figured I would pose the question to the readers of this blog. Are these rose balls real or fake?

Here’s a closer look:

Rose balls are pretty awesome, but they can get pricey. For one thing, in order to have a rose ball, you have to use a lot of roses, which are expensive by themselves. Making them into ball form can be labor intensive. And then you have to make sure they can be attached to a ribbon or rope or other hanging method securely, so they don’t fall (they’re really heavy).

These rose balls happened to also have some crystal-shaped glass hanging from the bottom.

So? Are these fresh flowers or silk? Offer your take in the comments.
