Aisle decorations

Walking down the aisle on your big day, you want the path you walk to be as beautiful as you feel.

So I figured I would give you a few ideas on decorating the aisle you’ll walk on your big day. Above, you’ve got Hawaiian orchids marking the aisle. Of course, the rest of the scenery in Kuauai is so beautiful, you don’t need much else.

Tulips, roses and one garden wedding

Some of the weddings I’m being sent have been amazing, and only Royal Wedding Month was in my way of posting them. I’m here to fix that problem right now.

I truly wish I knew who the florist was for this spectacular set up, but I don’t. No, it wasn’t me or anyone I know. But my undercover wedding attender was highly impressed by this garden wedding at the Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club in Mission Viejo. Can you blame her? I briefly considered saving this overall photo for last, but c’mon — we want detail shots, am I right?

Wedding cakes, table and aisle arrangements

I’m constantly on the lookout for flower arrangements wherever I am (my purses must now always have room for my camera), so its a habit that I think my friends have adopted. But I don’t think its that unusual — when I was working, complete strangers constantly took pictures of my work. This friend, who asked not to be named, didn’t take these pictures recently, but at a bridal shower at the Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach in 2006.

I’m not a fan of wedding magazines, since what you see in them seem so far from what real people do, and bridal shows are sort of a step down from wedding magazines. Bridal shows, after all, are where vendors put out their best to attract the most. But I like this arrangement — its pretty, and not too fancy, but still classy. The extra vases of green mums and green cymbidiums add an extra touch to what is essentially a relatively plain arrangement of white roses and white mums. By the way, does that card say “Flowers by LAPD”? Heheh.

Drape your wedding in garlands

I’ve been thinking a lot about my friend Jinah’s wedding. One thing about decorating for a friend is that you don’t want to disappoint — but at the same time, you don’t want your friend to be a drill sergeant, barking orders about how to do this, or do that that way. Luckily for me, Jinah has given Caroline and I pretty free reign on what to do, mostly just telling us she wants the colors to be silver and gold. Hey, that works for me!

Problem with that approach is now there’s too many possibilities! But when I think about the house where Jinah is going to get married, all I can think of are all the horizontal and vertical lines there are — all the balconies on the second floor, the height of the portico, the top of the portico, not to mention the pool’s fountain. There are so many surfaces to decorate! So I naturally began to think of garlands.
