Valentine’s Day bargains from Costco

Valentine’s Day is coming up fast, and while retail experts believe people will be spending more money for the love holiday this year than they did in 2012, all of us are still feeling the economic pinch. That’s why a place like Costco is an undercover bargain hunter’s dream come true.

I’ve written before about Costco and products you can buy here for weddings. But, as I’m sure you know from Christmas shopping, Costco is a spectacularly awesome place to buy gifts. (And, not to worry, Costco is not paying a dime for me to write this. I’m just a fan. You know how Target has fans? I am a Costco fan.)

I get Costco’s sale emails, and they’re pretty gosh darn tempting. Say you don’t want to spend more than $30 on a Valentine’s Day gift. I think that’s fair — it’s kind of a Hallmark holiday, and you’d rather spend the big bucks on a big deal date like an actual anniversary or his/her birthday? I think Costco’s gift baskets are a gift anyone can get behind.

I can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t love to get something like this. Out of all the Valentine’s Day-themed gift baskets on Costco.com, this is the one I’d be all about — hint, hint, Mr. Powells. It wouldn’t be great for my waist, but one of these were delivered to my work, I probably wouldn’t care at that point. These are just $24.99, and that spectacular price only lasts until Feb. 17, but supplies are limited.

Plan a Costco wedding

I can think of one person who might truly consider a all Costco-planned wedding, if he was marrying a woman who would be amenable to the idea. He loved him some Costco — would even drive 20 minutes out of his way in order to get a Costco pizza.

I’ve previously extolled the virtues of Costco’s wedding-centric possibilities — like bridal flowers and vases and candles — but they’ve really stepped up their game by adding wedding dresses and one-of-a-kind engagement rings. (And really, we’ve heard of wackier wedding stunts, right? Like the 99-cent Stores wedding?)

First, let’s address the jewelry. I’m sure we were all aware that Costco sold jewelry, yes? But did you know they could look like this, which, by the way, is a princess cut diamond wedding set? I’m not even that much into jewelry, and even I think this would look mighty fine on my left ring finger. I am, by the way, hoping for an upgrade, maybe once I pop this second baby out or maybe around our 10th anniversary, which is really not that far off. Start saving, honey!

Flowers for your wedding at Costco.com

I have a friend who shops at Costco for everything, and I mean everything. He even used to tell us about going to Costco’s all over the country — while visiting the East Coast, while in Maui. Yeesh. If I was in Maui, I wouldn’t be spending my time at Costco, lemme tell ya. But I understand the Costco fixation; I love going and I always find stuff that’s useful and its always of good quality. So, does the sentiment carry over to wedding flowers?

Did anyone else even realize that Costco.com had a weddings section? The flowers are provided from VistaFlor and their prices range from $100 to $1,000. Even at the top of that range, that’s still quite cheap.

Vases and candles at Costco

I was at Costco the other day for a few things when I spotted these vases. My husband sighed in disbelief that I was about to take pictures of Costco products, but you would think he would be used to me whipping out my camera for any little thing by now.

These are exactly the types of vases that are in style for weddings now. Tall, clear glass, plus I believe they come with tealight holders, so you could actually put whatever you want on the bottom, and light a candle midway through. Technically, I think these were labeled hurricane vases.

Anyway, these vases were amazing, but I probably wouldn’t recommend them for guest table arrangements, since they’re kind of pricey. How pricey you might ask?
