Spring flowers

Is it just me or are this spring’s flowers particularly spectacular?

Folks who follow me on Instagram have probably had it up to here with all my flower photos. I’ve been snapping them while on my daily walks in the neighborhood near my work. I know the types of flowers of a couple of them, but not all of them. I hope you enjoy!

Fancier tall flower arrangements

Ohhh, tall flower arrangements. Who plans a wedding without even at least considering a tall flower arrangement? There are so many styles out there, now, too — the possibilities are endless.

I love this arrangement. It’s still tall and beautiful, but so friendly looking. This is perfect for a fall wedding, of course, with the sunny sunflowers and warm red mums. This arrangement would look both indoors and out.

Atypical guest table centerpieces

I look at a lot of weddings, and I’ve decorated a lot of them. Sometimes, I wonder if anyone else breaks from the norm of lush flower bouquets and puts something a little different on their guest tables. Here are a few I found on Flickr to inspire you.

This wedding reception centerpiece happened to be created by none other than a bride herself — she happens to be Australian, so I couldn’t tell you the exact amount these cost, but if you click on the link, she describes where she got the materials (like the faux flowers) and how she put them together.

Flower arrangements for your sweetheart table

What kind of flowers should you request for your sweetheart table? If you’re looking for flowers that will make for a big impact at a distance, you want colorful, big, lush blooms, like hydrangeas and blooming roses.

Above, I don’t typically see two arrangements on a sweetheart table, but these are meant to be used as a couple. I like the blooming roses and petals strewn between them.

White orchids on a red tablecloth? Big impact. I love it.

This wedding, which I decorated ages ago, used large blooming lavender roses and Casablanca lilies (my favorite flower!), and white Hawaiian orchids. The Hawaiian and dendrobium orchids don’t have as much visual impact as, say, a cattleya orchid, but I like them for the trailing and dangling effect.

You see what I mean? The dangling orchids here are lovely. This reception, which was held at the Our Lady of the Angels Cathedral in downtown Los Angeles, had a great sweetheart table and backdrop. And all the flower arrangements are simply dripping with orchids.

You can’t see too much of the flowers here — they include pink roses and lilies — but I am including it because its one of my favorite colors and one of my favorite pictures. 🙂

Flowers for a royal wedding

As we all know, if there was ever a #1 priority here at Wedding Decorator Blog, it would be flowers. So when it comes to the royal wedding (just 10 days to go!), what will the flowers look like????

Apparently, its a tradition for the bridal bouquet to be massive. Just check out Lady-turned-Princess Diana’s bridal bouquet for her wedding in 1981.

That’s a big bouquet. I don’t know about anyone else, but I would have had to lift weights to get ready to hold that size bouquet all day long. Plus, it was halfway to the ground!

Flower arrangements for your head table

Ever wonder what type of flowers are best for a head table at a wedding reception? The answer is — any type of flower. Of course, there are different styles that are best for different lengths of head table.

This head table is actually shorter than a lot of head tables I’ve decorated, seating about eight people, I think. So the arrangement isn’t that long. Flowers in this arrangement, for a golden anniversary celebration, include yellow roses, orange daisies (not the gerber type), stock, orchids and stargazers.
