Decorating a 25th anniversary wedding

Getting to five years married is tough enough these days, so making it to 25 years? That’s definitely a milestone that should be celebrated.

This wedding took place in 2004 at Burbank’s Pickwick Gardens. The bride was a friend of my mom’s, so my mom of course pulled out all the stops to decorate this wedding. Quite honestly, I’ve been wanting to post the above picture for years, but didn’t sit down to properly edit it until just recently (the wedding took place in July and it was extremely bright that day). But I was thoroughly impressed with how the ceremony decorations came out here — large arrangements with lavender roses, orchids and pink ginger and lots of ti leaves spray painted silver, on top of silver lamé-draped columns.

Fancier tall flower arrangements

Ohhh, tall flower arrangements. Who plans a wedding without even at least considering a tall flower arrangement? There are so many styles out there, now, too — the possibilities are endless.

I love this arrangement. It’s still tall and beautiful, but so friendly looking. This is perfect for a fall wedding, of course, with the sunny sunflowers and warm red mums. This arrangement would look both indoors and out.

Tropical flower arrangements from a design show*

At a design show, you should fully expect to see amazing floral designs and floral art. The show where my brother, the budding florist, recently took these photos was no exception.

For example, the artsy arrangement above looks more like art than a flower arrangement. I’m not sure the name of the greens, but I do see pink gerber daisies (although they look like a special kind) and green cymbidium orchids. And I like the use of a succulent in there. Bonus — the white overlay on the pink tablecloth. That’s a super cool overlay, although trying to fold it must be a pickle.
