Bargain hunter’s wedding decorations

This is the most wonderful time of the year…..for bargain hunters planning a wedding. Holiday decor can easily do double duty as wedding decorations, and you can save so much if you know where to go.

For example, I found this candle holder at Marshall’s recently. The price tag says $19.99 right? Its better than the $50 you might pay for a flower arrangement with a candle set inside, and just as pretty. Plus, I really love decorations that incorporate lights.

Wedding decorations for sale

I knew this time would eventually come — time to sell some of my mom’s wedding decorations. At this time, it’s time to sell some of her draping materials.

If you follow Wedding Decorator regularly, you probably have recognized many of the materials that are for sale in the pictures I’ve posted. For example, you’ll recognize both the baby blue sequin fabric and charmeuse in one of the pictures in this post about head table decorations.

What wedding decoration trends will we see in 2013?

I’ve been busy looking over Pinterest to get an idea of what brides are planning for their weddings in 2013.

 

I know its only September, but before you know it, it’ll be the holidays and couples will be getting engaged left and right. Then, all of a sudden, it’s 2013, and what are people going to be doing to decorate their weddings? More burlap? More peacock themes? I’ve seen some predictions so far, namely from 3D Memoirs (which has some great ideas and examples). But based on what’s getting pinned, I have a few of my own ideas.

Fancier tall flower arrangements

Ohhh, tall flower arrangements. Who plans a wedding without even at least considering a tall flower arrangement? There are so many styles out there, now, too — the possibilities are endless.

I love this arrangement. It’s still tall and beautiful, but so friendly looking. This is perfect for a fall wedding, of course, with the sunny sunflowers and warm red mums. This arrangement would look both indoors and out.

There is a lot of interest here in decorating with fabric, particularly ceiling decorations. But it can get expensive, if you use a professional florist or wedding decorator. So how about trying to do it yourself?

The difficult thing about DIY wedding decorations is trying to get the materials that the professionals have. Luckily, there are a few florists and decoration companies that have recognized there might be some demand for wedding decoration kits.
