Tulips, roses and one garden wedding

Some of the weddings I’m being sent have been amazing, and only Royal Wedding Month was in my way of posting them. I’m here to fix that problem right now.

I truly wish I knew who the florist was for this spectacular set up, but I don’t. No, it wasn’t me or anyone I know. But my undercover wedding attender was highly impressed by this garden wedding at the Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club in Mission Viejo. Can you blame her? I briefly considered saving this overall photo for last, but c’mon — we want detail shots, am I right?

This has got to be one of the most lushly decorated aisles I’ve ever seen. Consider the center of the aisle, which is strewn with rose petals. Are they spelling anything out? If they are, it’s “S” alternating backwards and forwards. Consider the border of the aisle. There are alternating arrangements, but not only that — there are tulips standing up in piles of white roses. But its not like alternating arrangements along the aisle wasn’t enough — check out the arrangement in a globe vase hanging above each low arrangement. That’s just — wow.

One of the alternating arrangements was a rounded-bottom, wide-mouthed vase filled with water, with what appear to be clear stones on the bottom, anchoring three stems of white tulips. Its surrounded by the white petals — which, quite honestly, are so white, I wonder if they are silk, but I can see the variation in color — and I can also see the tulip stems in water piks, so that they stand up in the grass. Genius.

The other arrangement along the aisle was more traditional — a low arrangement containing creamy white roses, what looks like hydrangea and other white flowers I can’t seem to pick out. The white tulle ribbons were not part of the arrangement, but instead were tied to the aisle chair of each back row.

This little arrangement of flowers in a globe vase mimics the one hanging over each of the low arrangements in the aisle. But unlike the aisle arrangements, which hung from what looked like a wrought-iron stand, these hung from ribbons slung from the last outer aisle seat. And it seems each row got one of these charming little arrangements.

Last but not least were these amazing vases of flowers behind the musicians’ area. I can’t quite see which flowers were used, but I do see white hydrangea, green mums (a type of mums, sorry I forget the specific name), and lots of branches. I love branches in arrangements. The vases got some cool treatment with the ribbon twisting along the front.

Considering that a lot of people don’t spend as much time worrying about the ceremony decorations as they do the reception (in my experience), this was a refreshing about face. Serious kudos to the florist.
